Meeting Minutes for Tuesday, October 20, 2009

OLD BUSINESS:

-The playground equipment was approved by the school board and hopefully will be ordered this week. The total on the equipment that was approved was $10,761.21. We are putting $10,000 towards it and found out the school district is kicking in the $761.21. We may be looking at adding a slide or something next spring depending on how the fundraisers go this year.

-The hotdog sale at the Cataract Mart last Saturday went well, have not heard from Steve how much we made. Thanks to Janeen and Roxie for working at it.

NEW BUSINESS:

-Tom and Sandy Steward gave the PTO $50 towards the Halloween party, as they will not be able to attend.

-Don Herr told us the Homemakers are again donating string cheese to put in the kids treat bags for the party.

-We will be serving hotdogs, chips, pickles and a drink for the party. So far it looks like we have had 96 people respond they are coming. Arlene was going to talk to their distributor and see if they would be willing to donate the chips. I will update you to this when I find out.

-The first responders are again going to set up a haunted house in the hallway. If people are willing to stick around after the party to help them clean up, Don stated they would appreciate it.

-Mike Harris will be the DJ.

-We are going to be setting up tables for the party, Kim Callahan is going to be running a tatoo parlor. We will have a guess the weight of the pumpkin and the number of candies in the jar. We asked the teachers if they wanted to have a pumpkin decorating contest for each class and the parents could judge them that night. We thought we could give the winning class something, but haven't decided what yet. Maybe some kind of treat or something. Also, may look at setting up a coloring table. Different areas to keep the kids entertained.

-We were also wondering if the PTO parents would be willing again to bring desserts for the party. Please let me know.

-The Veteran's Day program will be on Wednesday, November 11 at 1:15 this year. The time change was so the music teacher could be here to help with the program. Judy Herr will be making the cake and we will be serving coffee also with that. Roxie and myself volunteered to serve.

-We will not be having another meeting until after the holidays. The next meeting will be on Tuesday, January 19 at 6:00 to discuss the card party which will be Saturday, February 27 at 8:00pm. I will bring the list of places/people who donated items for the raffle last year and hopefully people will come so we can divide the list up between all of us to go get the prizes. The next meeting then will be Tuesday, February 23 at 6:00 to finalize the party and see how many donations we have gotten for the raffle. It was brought up what to have to eat this year for the card party. Last year we has shredded pork, beans and salads. Roxie mentioned bar-b-ques. Let me know what people think we should have.
