Meet Miss Callahan:

My name is Kim Callahan. This is my 9th year teaching at Cataract. I enjoy working with the children and learning from them.

I am from Onalaska, WI and I went to school at UW-LaCrosse where I majored in Elementary Education and minored in Early Childhood Education. I have also completed my Master's Degree in Elementary Education from Viterbo University.

I am very close with my family. My parents, Russ and Roxie, volunteer at the school often. I have a brother, Andy, who lives in Madison with his wife, Jada, and his daughters, Maddie and McKenzie.

In my free time, I enjoy "surfing the web" for new ideas to use in my classroom. I also enjoy listening to music, reading, watching movies, and walking.

We are using the Handwriting Without Tears program in Kindergarten. The children enjoy using the materials to build letters and find that it is a lot of fun to learn! Our school is also using a new math series, Math Expressions. Math Expressions teaches concepts using hands on practices. The children have the opportunity to lead the class in their learning.

This year looks to be a fun and exciting learning time for all!
